During the summer of 2010, the Foundation will be showing visitors its collection via a number of different projects relating to art, the environment and new technologies.
After the success of the night visit to the NMAC Collection, organized for the celebration of the European Museum Night we will repeat this activity over the summer on the full moon nights. On Saturday June 26th, Monday July 26th, Tuesday August 24th and Thursday September 23rd it will be possible to see the sculptures and the forest with the full moon light under the activity “At the Full moon’s light at the NMAC Foundation”. After watching the sunset at the James Turrell “Second Wind 2005” project, visitors will be accompanied on a guided visit through the sculpture park, where they will be able to see the works from a different perspective with the help of the flashlights.
Sunset onTuesdays will be back again here at NMAC. This activity consists of a series of guided tours of the collection during the early evenings of Tuesday 6th and 20th July, and 3rd, 17th and 31st August, culminating with an evening viewing of James Turrell’s work Second Wind 2005, during which visitors can experience an unusual way of viewing the light that is such a characteristic feature of this area of the coast.
As part of its commitment to the environment, every Sunday in August the Foundation will be holding an environmental family workshopArt and the Environment for all the Family is an educational project that focuses on heightening youngsters’ environmental awareness and, in the company of their parents, they will be given the chance to become real-life explorers. With the help of a field guide and a backpack containing a range of support materials for this activity, they will be able to discover the various plant and animal species that live in the Mediterranean woodland environment and, with this visit to the sculpture park, they will learn different ways of observing and conserving nature.
Another of the NMAC Foundation’s activities for children and youngsters will be our craft workshop, which will be looking at the subject of light and colour. Every Thursday in August, children aged between 6 and 12 years will be able to examine different aspects of light and colour, with the help of templates, kaleidoscopes and other items that will help them become more familiar with the properties of the light spectrum.
For the third year in a row, the NMAC Foundation will be running its Comic Strip Workshop, Five Senses and WATER, for youngsters aged 9 to 16, from 23rd to 24th August. The aim of the workshop is to encourage children to use art as a way of expressing themselves.
Also back this year is the Impressions Animation Workshop, designed for 9- to 16-year-olds. This will be held on 9th, 10th and 11th August, and in it, participants will be able to create a short animated film using tools such as drawing, plasticine and photography.
